Pollinator Friendly Ames: Healthy Environment

The third goal of the Ames Pollinator Plan is to provide a healthier environment for pollinators (and people). Specifically, our goal is to:

  • Reduce pesticide use, especially neonicotinoids, across the City of Ames.

Minimizing turf lawn and replacing it with native plants creates a more diverse habitat, providing essential food and shelter for pollinators like bees and butterflies.

    Reduce pesticide use

Reducing pesticide use helps protect pollinators from toxic chemicals that can harm or kill them, giving them a safer environment to feed and reproduce.
